What Does The Mattress Warranty Cover?

by Jenny Borton

Mattress Warranties

ALL of our mattresses include a manufacturer warranty with purchase! Length of warranty and type of coverage depends on the policies set by the mattress manufacturer, but in general, a mattress warranty will cover faulty defects or workmanship as a result of manufacturing process.

Physical flaws or defects that are typically covered by mattress warranties include:

• Broken seams, coils, or other structural damage or broken components

• Abnormalities or internal inconsistencies in materials

• Excessive sagging that is not due to normal wear and tear; generally this is at least 2” in depth when measured according to manufacturer’s specifications (e.g. without applying any pressure, not in a tuft, and as compared to the rest of the sleeping surface).

.

Anything not considered a physical flaw or defect is most likely not covered under warranty, such as (but not limited to):

• Damage as a result of improper use (accidents such as burns, mold, mildew, cuts, spills, and stains)

• Comfort preference (We do offer a Comfort Guarantee Policy on select mattresses! For more information, please click here!)

• Products that are sold “as-is”, or any other similar wording that would indicate that the product is no longer in new, warranted condition

• Odors (products that have a “new product smell;” note that this should dissipate after a few days of aeration)

• Normal indentations or sagging, generally less than 2”, or indentation or sagging due to misuse

• Damage as a result of the improper or incorrect use of bed frame, foundation, or adjustable base

Please also keep in mind that any mattress that is placed in the residence or vicinity of a smoker is void of any warranty, along with any mattress that has a stain or soiling.

If you have any questions about what your specific mattress warranty covers, please contact us so we can help! Only mattresses with a return authorization previously issued from the manufacturer and processed through our customer service team will be accepted at our facilities.

How can I protect my mattress?

We understand that accidents happen. Mattress warranties do not cover normal wear and tear or spills, stains, and soiling. We highly encourage you to purchase a mattress protector to help safeguard against spills, sweat, and stains to keep your mattress safe and fresh.

Tips to help your mattress last longer:

• Make sure your bed is properly supported with a stable bed frame that has support legs in the center of the foundation (not just at the sides/edges) and a foundation or adjustable base that is sturdy and designed for your mattress. Our experts can give you the right recommendations for this.

• If you have an innerspring mattress, remember to rotate it from head to foot every 3-6 months.

• Remember to wash your bedsheets at least every 2 weeks to help prevent bacteria, dust, oils, sweat, mites, hair and skin cells from building up and seeping into your mattress.

• Clean your mattress by following the included instructions set by the manufacturer.

• Protect your mattress with a mattress protector!

Other Returns

You may check out our standard return policy here. Only prior-authorized returns by our customer service team will be honored, and in most cases opened mattresses (the original protective plastic has been opened) are not returnable except if they qualify for a Comfort Guarantee (click here) or manufacturer warranty due to warranted defect (see foregoing).

Some of our customers wonder why they can’t return their mattress just like they would return a consumer product to another retailer like a sporting goods store or hardware store. There a several reasons, but the primary one is that mattresses are a health and wellness product. No one wants to pay for a new mattress but receive a mattress that someone else has already slept on, regardless of whether it was 3 nights of sleep or 30. When you pay for a new mattress from our stores, we provide you a truly new mattress. Since most all our customers want this same treatment, there is really no value available to be given back to a customer who wants to return an out-of-original-packaging mattress because that mattress can no longer be sold as new.
